Bologna is located in the north of Italy.
It is about 200 km far from Milan and about 360 km far from Rome.

Bologna can be reached from a number of airports, which include Bologna Airport, Milan Airports (Malpensa and Linate) and Rome Airport (Fiumicino).

Bologna Airport Guglielmo Marconi


Bologna Airport has connections with several European cities, including Paris, London, Frankfurt, Amsterdam and Vienna. If you are coming from outside Europe, you might consider taking a transit flight to one of these airports.
Bologna Airport has also scheduled flights to/from New York (JFK Airport).

Bologna Airport is only 6 km from the city centre.
You can either take a taxi, rent a car or buy a ticket for the BLQ shuttle service. Here you can find information about the BLQ service.

Milan Airport Malpensa


Malpensa Airport is a huge airport and it has connections with several foreign cities.

There are different ways to reach Bologna from Malpensa Airport.


By train
To reach Milan railway central station (Milano Centrale), which is downtown, you can take one of the available shuttle services. Buses to downtown are normally rather frequent, so you can buy tickets directly at the airport. If you prefer, it is also possible to buy tickets online.
Alternatively, taxis are available at the Arrivals of Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. The fee to the centre of Milan is about € 70.

From Milan railway station you can easily reach Bologna. There is on average one train each hour going to Bologna. The journey takes about 2 hours.

Please note that the train service Malpensa Express, described on the airport website, does not connect Malpensa airport with Milan Stazione Centrale, but with another station (Cadorna). This is why we suggest you take the shuttle to reach the railway central station.


By car
Bologna is about 240 kilometers far from Malpensa airport. To reach Bologna by car from Malpensa, take the State Road SS 336 until you reach Busto Arsizio. Then take the motorway A8 (Autostrada A8 Laghi) to Milan, and continue on A1 to Bologna

By flight

Milan Airport Linate


Linate Airport is smaller than Malpensa with less international connections, but it is closer to the city center.

There are different ways to reach Bologna from Linate Airport.

By train
Milano Centrale station is about 7 kilometers far from Linate airport.
Taxis are available at the Arrivals. The fee to Milano Centrale station is about € 15.
Alternatively, you can take a taxi to reach the railway station of Milano Rogoredo, which is very close to Linate airport. Milano Rogoredo is a minor station and has less train connections with Bologna. However, there are a number of trains to Bologna.

By car
To go to Bologna, take the the motorway A1 to Bologna.

Rome Airport Fiumicino (Leonardo da Vinci)



Fiumicino Airport is a huge airport and it has connections with several foreign cities.

There are different ways to reach Bologna from Fiumicino Airport. Detailad directions are provided here.


By train
To reach Rome railway central station (Roma Stazione Centrale), you can take the Leonardo Express train. Alternatively, you might take a taxi. The fare applied by the taxi drivers of Fiumicino is € 60, inclusive of luggage, for a maximum of four passengers, for all destinations with in the Aurelian Walls of Rome. Please be careful and take only authorized taxis (white vehicles with a taximeter).

From Rome railway station you can easily reach Bologna. The journey takes about 4 hours.

By car
Fiumicino Airport is quite far from Bologna (about 400 km). Therefore, we suggest you take a train or a flight to reach Bologna.
