The problems used in this chapter are the standard job shop scheduling problems, extended so that each activity requires one of a set of two resources rather than having a predefined resource requirement. Furthermore, the processing time of the activity depends on the resource to which it is assigned. This problem is also addressed in Scheduling with Alternative Resources: Interleaving Resource Allocation and Scheduling Decisions.
