About me

I am a post-doctoral research fellow in computer science at DEIS of the University of Bologna in Italy. Previously I was a a post-doctoral research fellow at the Department of Information Science of the Uppsala University in Sweden where I obtained my PhD degree (March 2004) and where I recently received the docent (equivalent to associate professor) title.

I am very glad to say that my Ph.D. dissertation has won the 2004 Artificial Intelligence Dissertation Award of European Coordinating Committee for Artificial Intelligence .

Research

My research focuses on constraint programming (CP) which provides a platform for modelling and solving combinatorial problems. CP has its roots from Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Operations Research (OR). My current research interests cover a wide range of topics in CP, including modelling, global constraints, symmetry breaking and integration of local search techniques into the CP framework.

Collaborators

I conduct my research at DEIS together with Michela Milano and Andrea Lodi. In addition, I collaborate extensively with research groups in Cork Constraint Computation Centre (Ireland), Izmir University of Economics (Turkey), LIRMM (France), the University of New South Wales (Australia), the University of York (U.K.), and the University of St. Andrews (U.K.). I am also a member of the APES and COMIC multisite research group.
